Remember when people used to make beats on the old MPC.  I wonder if music shops sell many of those things anymore.  I was always too cheap to buy one…Instead, I went for the Boss 880 drum machine.  (big mistake…actually….I’d love to have an MPC laying around the basement….instead of an 880 with no power chord.)  Philly’s King Britt has gone back to his roots and dusted off his old MPC2000, grabbed some wax, and banged out 18 low-fi, analog instrumentals.  Simple idea…but so good.  It’s nice to listen to something other than the crystal clear beats and vocorded vocals that saturate Hip Hop today…Oh, how it brings me back.
