Just in case you’ve been living in a cave for the last few weeks, The Very Best are the newest music super-group to grace our ears.  Comprised of the British production duo Radioclit, Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya, and various other guest musicians. (Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, and M.I.A. to name a few.)  Very catchy African rhythms, mixed with classic pop music sensibility make for a very nice record…Definitely continuing the success that Vampire Weekend started with the adoption of African sounds in their music.  You can say that The Very Best is just jumping on the bandwagon of the world music craze, but I think that its great to see so many artists pulling sounds from so many different cultures.  For myself, it’s a welcome change from the thousands of “whoop, whoop, whoop” remixes floating around the scene.  The digital release is available at all the usual locals, with a physical release scheduled for October 6th.
