My first experience with Triobelisk happened on a cold winter night in DC. I think what I remember most, other than the really cool Midi controller, was how skillfully he built up his set. It wasn’t your average banger after banger set, he seemed to more interested in working the audience into a frenzy by slowly building the melodies and elevating the tempo — until the people were practically begging him to set the floor off…and he did — laying down one of the most interesting DJ sets that I had seen in while. Unfortunately for me, he’s relocated to Gothenburg, Sweden so I wont be seeing him do this again anytime soon, but hopefully this new song will catch fire and get him back over to the states sometime soon. The track is called “Distant Star” and features Norwegian singer, Stina Stjern, who lays down a fantastically haunting vocal over Triobelisk’s handy-work. Melodic in all the right ways, this is the perfect track to get your early fall evening started off correctly. The official release can be purchased over at bandcamp, and features two b-sides, as well as remixes by Itaru, Publique, Outputmessage, and Duluce.
