This weekend I went to a BBQ….I’m sure 90% of you did the same thing…But at this particular BBQ my friend, Quincy from Uncle Jesse played a bunch of Dam Funk…and it provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of drinking canned beer, eating way too much, and having a bunch of laughs. Anyway, this Dam Funk track made its way into my inbox this morning, fresh of the new L.A. based Proximal label first compilation, entitled, “A Narrative of a City”….cop it here.

Big thanks to DJ Foday from Brown Rice Collective for inviting myself, along with Douglas Masters and DJ DustOne from Dr. Birthday down to his weekly Tuesday night party at DC’s Science Club. Foday dropped some soulful shit on the surprisingly busy evening crowd, DustOne killed it with some crazy disco breaks…and well…I think I played a pretty nice set as well….

Its the middle of the night here in Baltimore, and what better time for some beats. Beats that will no doubt smash the shit out of your face. This one is from Dylan Rhymes. He has this LCD Soundsystemesque vocal laid over some vicious sounds. Not a long, epic track by any means…more of a hit you upside the head with a brick track. Its worth the bruise.

DJ Gero has put out a nice banger of a track on his latest compilation “Poyz Who Like Pirlz,” and while I have yet to understand what a “Poy” or a “Pirl” is, the music is good and speaks over the cutesy terminology. My favorite French club producers, Kazey and Bulldog have gotten a hold of this song, and lit a serious fire underneath it. Lots of nice drum work and great selection on the breakdowns to keep the track moving. This could start some serious mayhem on the dancefloor.

Just got this great Major Lazer remix from Nacey of the Nouveau Riche crew out of DC. Rumor has it that they throw some of the illist parties in the District. He comes on full force with this one. Great fucking beat on top of an already dope track. Keep your eyes on this dude.

I have a strange affinity for stuff coming out of Arizona….Mostly stuff that’s smuggled across the border in dimly lit tunnels….but this time (for the sake of head and body) it’s more musically oriented. This phenomena might have to do with the fact that my Mom lives there, (she’s really very kick ass) and that I spent the better part of a year slaving behind the bar in Scottsdale, then spending my paychecks on the other side of the bar in Scottsdale..(I see you TT’s)…So tonight I bring you a nice headfuck of a remix from Phoenix based Daze of Thunder. It’s loud…(good thing) ….well mixed (better thing) …..and just plain fun. (the most important thing) Nice work repping the AZ…I’ll be out enjoying the fine late May heat in a week or so…

I woke up this morning and realized that I haven’t posted up a good pop tune in quite some time. I know pop music is all over the radio, strategically placed throughout television series, dropped over the celebrity voices on those fancy car commercials, but every once in a while I’m a sucker for one. The nice thing about remixed pop songs is that you can listen to them and not feel like a complete pussy…(although I believe the puss (with a strong “o” sound) meter goes up just a tad…but fuck it cause it’s Monday morning and I think some pop music will set my head in the right direction. Lazrtag are from LA and they put so much juice into this Gaga track i don’t think I can ever listen to the original again……No zshare on this one kids…first come, first serve…..

Our buddy Don Diablo has dropped another electro burner on us to share with you guys this rainy Sunday afternoon. I’ve been hold up in the basement most of the weekend working on some new tracks for a State/Cool Catz collaboration that should be finished up in the next month or so, and this track was gave my ears a nice break from the 110 bpm that I’ve been redundantly blasting throughout the house all weekend. The Don always shows up with some great tracks, and this one is no exception. A nice little rework of a Heads We Dance track. Enjoy!!

Well if your like everybody else that I know, then you go absolutely bonkers when you hear a well done new mash-up….and I know that there are probably sixty-thousand terrible ones floating around out there, but when you get a good one……well…..it’s really nice. Well, during my travels this past week I met a friend-of-a-friend, DJ Murder Thumbs, and we spun some records, and became friends, and he hooked me up with this mash-up mix tape that he and his production partner ED205 had recently finished, and we both thought it might be fun to share it with you guys and see if has the desired mash-up effect….What I really like about this mix is that it’s not all just hip hop over techno beats, the guys throw in some nice obscure beats that really amp up the creativity level on this one.
